Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that uses a narrow, telescope-like tube (3-5 mm in diameter) to visualize the uterine cavity. This narrow telescope is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterine cavity. Pathology of the uterine cavity is visualized on the screen, and it can be removed or a sample can be taken from the uterine cavity. The fallopian tube openings can also be evaluated.
About the service
Hysteroscopy is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 15-60 minutes. Do not eat for 6 hours and do not drink for 4 hours before the procedure. After the procedure, there may be pulling pain in the lower abdomen, slight bloody discharge from the genital tract (up to 10 days), as well as anesthesia side effects (e.g., nausea, vomiting). Painkillers can be used if necessary. After the procedure, you cannot drive, lift heavy objects, or take a hot bath.
