About the department
Neurography and electromyography are neurophysiological diagnostic methods used to assess the speed of impulse transmission along peripheral nerve fibers, the functional state of nerve and muscle synapses, peripheral motor neurons, and muscle health.
Neurography is the determination of the speed of impulse transmission through peripheral nerve motor and sensory fibers by performing bipolar, percutaneous nerve stimulation with electric current.
Electromyography is a method of recording muscle biopotentials with needle electrodes while the patient is at rest and performing muscle-activating movements.
When should neurography and/or electromyography be performed?
Muscle wasting and weakness in the body. This may be a symptom of various muscle, nerve, digestive, and metabolic diseases. You should always consult a therapist and neurologist to assess whether there are other signs of disease, whether all or some of the muscles are affected, and whether an EMG should be performed.
The service is fully paid for by the PATIENT.
This examination is performed by certified neurologist-neurophysiologist Dr. Līga Liepiņa. Working hours – by appointment.
