History
1950
When Riga County was dissolved, Sigulda District was created and the Ministry of Health moved the Riga County Hospital from Inčukalns to Sigulda. Villa Lakstīgala” was transformed from a sanatorium into Sigulda Hospital.
In the course of subsequent reforms, it became the Riga District Central Hospital, the Riga District PBU “Riga District Hospital”, the Riga District Municipality Ltd.
1981
The administrative block of the hospital with a kitchen and a boiler house was built, as was the hospital hospital in 1983. Thanks mainly to municipal investment, the hospital has carried out many investment projects in recent years (reconstruction of the operating theatre, the reception ward, the maternity ward, the intensive care unit, the surgical ward and the administrative block).
2009
As a result of the reform of local governments, the Riga District Municipality transferred 100% of the hospital’s shares to the Sigulda Municipality, which is the sole owner of the hospital.
In September, the structure and scope of state-funded services changed and the hospital was reoriented towards predominantly planned healthcare services.
A large infrastructure for outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation services was created, elective surgical treatment and obstetric-gynaecological care were developed.
2010
The hospital has seriously focused on exporting healthcare services, specialising in bariatric surgery. Private partners were brought in to attract more patients.
2014
The name of the hospital is changed to SIA “Siguldas slimnīca”.
